{"id":43648,"date":"2017-08-07T15:42:30","date_gmt":"2017-08-07T19:42:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=43648"},"modified":"2017-08-07T15:42:30","modified_gmt":"2017-08-07T19:42:30","slug":"lifes-true-tragedy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/lifes-true-tragedy\/","title":{"rendered":"Life&#8217;s True Tragedy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The tragedy of life is not that it is short,<\/p>\n<p>nor that it is frail.<\/p>\n<p>Rather, tragedy comes when hope of meaning ends,<\/p>\n<p>and life must endure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How long must the wounded warrior suffer in vain?<\/p>\n<p>How long will the pain of loss endure?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tragedy is death without honor.<\/p>\n<p>All men must die,<\/p>\n<p>it has been decreed.<\/p>\n<p>But what of those who live without purpose?<\/p>\n<p>Where do we find hope?.<\/p>\n<p>Where does our salvation lay?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I pine for reason as I search for meaning.<\/p>\n<p>For what is life without meaning?<\/p>\n<p>My shield arm is gone,<\/p>\n<p>as is my purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Yet life endures.<\/p>\n<p>Are the gods so cruel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Can a man find life divorced of meaning?<\/p>\n<p>Time will teach<\/p>\n<p>and time will tell.<\/p>\n<p>But time stretches on too well.<\/p>\n<p>I seek the reason.<\/p>\n<p>I seek the rhyme.<\/p>\n<p>And all I find is time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>May whatever gods remain hear my plea.<\/p>\n<p>And find a meaningful life for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tragedy of life is not that it is short, nor that it is frail.
