Faithless, we need to kneel, driven to the floor.
\nGiving thanks to those who daily knead bread,
\nPut roofs on houses, and make wayfarers\u2019 beds,
\nNurse the sick, teach kids, and mind the store.<\/p>\n
We need to sing praises for the Earth\u2019s bounty,
\nWhile mindful of an ever-sacred trust we share
\nConserving the land in each town and county,
\nEarthly treasures that we need dare not impair.<\/p>\n
We need to meditate upon what Nature proclaims
\nLike snowflakes each of us is different, yet the same,
\nFor we inhale the same air, put food in our bellies,
\nAnd family togetherness and solitude we all claim.<\/p>\n
We need to serve our less fortunate neighbors,
\nProtect the weak, the young, the old, the poor,
\nEnsure that workers can rest from their labors.
\nComfort the dying, giving them hope to endure.<\/p>\n
We need permission to laugh a lot when we\u2019re happy,
\nCry when we\u2019re sad and occasionally act a little mad.
\nLove like we mean it, long-time acquaintances befriend.
