{"id":46277,"date":"2019-06-22T09:45:08","date_gmt":"2019-06-22T13:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=46277"},"modified":"2019-06-23T17:26:19","modified_gmt":"2019-06-23T21:26:19","slug":"hope-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/hope-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Prompt 1: I am&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am here,<\/p>\n<p>writing as my mind skips like a scratched disc.<\/p>\n<p>I delete words and start over.<\/p>\n<p>Fragmented poems have disappeared<\/p>\n<p>and I haven&#8217;t waved goodbye.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am burying shame in its grave,<\/p>\n<p>a deep frown on my face.<\/p>\n<p>Let it go, I pray.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am planting words in the ground,<\/p>\n<p>watering them everyday,<\/p>\n<p>waiting for poems to bloom.<\/p>\n<p>I watch out my window,<\/p>\n<p>my hands clasped under my chin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am checking the mail,<\/p>\n<p>waiting for a letter from my dad.<\/p>\n<p>The ghost of shame comes instead.<\/p>\n<p><em>You scared him away<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am not falling in the darkness today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am picking poems from their stems,<\/p>\n<p>reading them out loud<\/p>\n<p>and falling in love.<\/p>\n<p>I am pasting them on the walls in my home<\/p>\n<p>and in my memory.<\/p>\n<p>I am not letting go<\/p>\n<p>of hope.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am here, writing as my mind skips like a scratched disc.
