Crosses, Stars of David.<\/p>\n
They were supported by<\/p>\n
Walkers, canes, wheelchairs,<\/p>\n
Each other.<\/p>\n
Their memories rushing forward<\/p>\n
Like the waves of Normandy<\/p>\n
As they set the world free<\/p>\n
From tyranny<\/p>\n
And became<\/p>\n
Prisoners of war<\/p>\n
In their own minds<\/p>\n
Carrying men to safety<\/p>\n
Through the tide of courage.<\/p>\n
For long moments<\/p>\n
They were not betrayed<\/p>\n
By their aging bodies,<\/p>\n
Foggy minds.<\/p>\n
Once again, they carried<\/p>\n
The world to freedom<\/p>\n
On their shoulders,<\/p>\n
In their arms,<\/p>\n
On their honor,<\/p>\n
In their hearts.<\/p>\n
