I am a friend, I care too deeply
\nand that isn\u2019t the crime
\nthe world likes us to believe it is.
\nI love fully and invest in my pack,
\na pack full of lovers like me.<\/p>\n
I am a worker, not a worker bee.
\nNot mindless, but devoted to
\nthe job I do and the people I do it for.
\nI live a fast-paced, hectic life,
\nwhich is worth it – for them.<\/p>\n
I am a student, but soon I will teach,
\nI shove past obstacles and panic over tests
\nso that one day I can be the one assigning them.
\nThe routine, the structure, reassures me
\nand those assignments begin to give me purpose.<\/p>\n
I am a volunteer, our work is never done.
\nAlways one more thing, a load of laundry,
\na trap to set, a dog to walk, an injury to tend to,
\nsadness is replaced by joy, only when our
\nanimals heal and find the love they deserve.<\/p>\n
I am depressed, usually for no reason
\nI battle with my own mind, it plays tricks, it lies.
\nI\u00a0try to remember that no one hurt me,

\ndesperate to think about living again.<\/p>\n
I am a human, inconceivable,
\nI can\u2019t be described in just a poem.
\nBut my spirit can speak through one.
\nMy perspective and my intuition can be shared
