I am watching slo-mo years<\/p>\n

race by at breakneck speed<\/p>\n

on a different stopwatch.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am reflecting myself<\/p>\n

as I peak into the Sound.<\/p>\n

Tip toe to the edge,<\/p>\n

have to watch the kids,<\/p>\n

cause it gets deep fast.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Orcas come in close,<\/p>\n

spout and shrill,<\/p>\n

smell like the seaweed<\/p>\n

that opens it\u2019s arms<\/p>\n

in watery welcome.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am spectator.<\/p>\n

I am witness.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Where I stand was<\/p>\n

under a mile of ice<\/p>\n

fifteen thousand years ago.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ice melted,<\/p>\n

land rose,<\/p>\n

relieved of weight.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Footsteps pattered<\/p>\n

onto fertile terrain,<\/p>\n

islands carved by<\/p>\n

icy retreat.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am a witness.<\/p>\n

I am a spectator.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am responsible.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
