Children gather at my feet<\/p>\n
as I open a book to read.<\/p>\n
A book about how trees whisper to me<\/p>\n
when it rains.<\/p>\n
Their eyes are bright,<\/p>\n
their minds open.<\/p>\n
My voice rises and falls<\/p>\n
like the ocean.<\/p>\n
I read the part about how<\/p>\n
the trees mourn their family<\/p>\n
as they’re cut down.<\/p>\n
They send wisdom through the wind<\/p>\n
and if people are present,<\/p>\n
the thoughts will be planted in their minds.<\/p>\n
I turn pages and add more that isn’t written.<\/p>\n
Mermaids can be found<\/p>\n
at the sea,<\/p>\n
if you hold a seashell out as an offering<\/p>\n
while standing in the waves.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The children cry for more at the end<\/p>\n
but my voice is gone.<\/p>\n
Later, I sit under the weeping willow tree in my yard<\/p>\n
and braid my hair.<\/p>\n
Rain is coming.<\/p>\n
And I am listening.<\/p>\n
Hold me in your magic,<\/p>\n
I am safe there.<\/p>\n
