{"id":46911,"date":"2019-06-22T10:19:14","date_gmt":"2019-06-22T14:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=46911"},"modified":"2019-06-22T10:19:14","modified_gmt":"2019-06-22T14:19:14","slug":"magic-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/magic-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Magic!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Swirling in my head, a floating sensation.<\/p>\n<p>A phrase that usually condemns you to eternal damnation.<\/p>\n<p>From Salem to a faraway land with a hard-to-pronounce-name.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Magic is not real&#8221; is screamed in the face of me, a person who won&#8217;t tame.<\/p>\n<p>Crystal balls tell the truth while plumes of smoke shoot out at random.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining the intuition you have and keeping your secret in tandem.<\/p>\n<p><em>Magic!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Think of Roald Dahl and the way his books make you feel.<\/p>\n<p>Kick yourself for thinking that his stories aren&#8217;t real.<\/p>\n<p>Bottles of potions and drinks whose bubbles fall down.<\/p>\n<p>Witches that steal children, creating chaos that reaches the whole town.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing Matilda in yourself and yourself in her.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing that you&#8217;re different from the other kids, the lines you do blur.<\/p>\n<p><em>Magic!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We aren&#8217;t taught how to believe because our minds are too powerful.<\/p>\n<p>Shoving our magic into more useful planter boxes that are anything but flowerful.<\/p>\n<p>Witches who become artists, wizards who become singers.<\/p>\n<p>Writing, painting, sewing, the shimmery glow that lingers.<\/p>\n<p>Life is mysterious, unknown and full of danger.<\/p>\n<p>An entirely different perception in the mind of a stranger.<\/p>\n<p><em>Magic!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>My poems are spells, though I don&#8217;t intend them to be.<\/p>\n<p>I can clear through the fog, open my eyes and see.<\/p>\n<p>Magic is real, it&#8217;s in me and you.<\/p>\n<p>Question everything, especially the things you believe to be true.<\/p>\n<p>I end this spell with a quick little note.<\/p>\n<p>Go back and find the magic in everything you&#8217;ve painted, sang, and wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swirling in my head, a floating sensation.
