We fight for what we think we deserve.
\nAnd when we go through a hard time
\nwe are told diligently to
\n\u201cFight through it\u201d<\/p>\n
Why must we always fight?<\/p>\n
Why is this word so entwined with
\nhatred, anger, even violence,
\nsociety\u2019s go-to in times of trouble?<\/p>\n
I am not a \u201cfighter\u201d
\nI am a talker, a listener, a reasoner,
\nI won\u2019t fight, or force, or aggravate.<\/p>\n
I want to learn, and heal
\nand approach the world with
\nthe love that it seems
\nSo quickly
\nto be losing sight of<\/p>\n
When I\u2019m ill, I don\u2019t \u201cfight\u201d the illness.
\nI rest and take time to heal.
\nWhen I\u2019m depressed,
\nI don\u2019t argue with my mind,
\nI\u2019m hurting enough already,
\nI refuse to hurt myself<\/p>\n
On a bad day, I don\u2019t \u201cfight through it\u201d
\nbecause that sounds like a lot of work
