{"id":47547,"date":"2019-06-22T09:28:31","date_gmt":"2019-06-22T13:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=47547"},"modified":"2019-06-22T19:05:05","modified_gmt":"2019-06-22T23:05:05","slug":"thoughts-and-prayers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/thoughts-and-prayers\/","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts and Prayers"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>So much is left\r\nto \u201cthoughts and prayers.\u201d\r\nIt's become meaningless\r\nlike no one really cares.\r\n\r\nEmpty words\r\nwon\u2019t stem the tide\r\nof mass shootings\r\nor suicides.\r\n\r\nWhat we need\r\nare better laws\r\nand bolder leaders\r\nto take up the cause.\r\n \r\nGun reform.\r\nThe time has come.\r\nNo one lives free \r\nwhile in fear of guns. \r\n\r\nWhile the lobby that holds\r\nthe purse strings of change \r\nkeeps choking out progress \r\nand leaving blood stains.\r\n \r\nBut the blood on their hands \r\nhasn\u2019t troubled them yet. \r\nSo we\u2019re left with these feelings\r\nof despair and regret. \r\n\r\nWe\u2019re left feeling hopeless \r\nand helpless inside. \r\nSo we send \u201cthoughts and prayers\u201d\r\neach time someone else dies. \r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So much is left to \u201cthoughts and prayers.\u201d It&#8217;s become meaningless like no one really cares.
