I planted flowers seeds, and most of them didn’t grow<\/p>\n
never broke through the dirt, though I willed them so<\/p>\n
I gave them water and even a dose of Miracle Gro<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I picked the best places all around my yard<\/p>\n
Broke up the ground, it was dry and hard<\/p>\n
pulled all the weeds, told them they were barred<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I gave them every chance to reach for the sky<\/p>\n
and most of those seeds didn’t even try<\/p>\n
One look at my yard and I just have to sigh<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
a tiny bit of them sprouted, new and green<\/p>\n
a pageant to crown the summertime queen<\/p>\n
maybe they will bloom and help the scene<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I hope that everyone who passes by can see<\/p>\n
I’m doing my part to help them to grow and be free<\/p>\n
The way that so many people have done for me<\/p>\n
