I\u2019m driving<br \/>\nmy morning\u2019s scheduled routine, when<br \/>\nthundering across the near horizon I hear,<br \/>\nbefore seeing, a herd of wild mustangs,<br \/>\nhundreds of them<\/p>\n<p>spilling in round-rumped abandon<br \/>\nthrough meadow and crossing ahead\u2014<br \/>\na mingling of manes, arced tails a blur<br \/>\nof exhilaration \u2013 nobly<\/p>\n<p>proclaiming with whited eyes<br \/>\ntheir surprise at this galloped<br \/>\nlayering of worlds, pulsing forward|<br \/>\nunhindered<\/p>\n<p>the rumbling waves tumble now<br \/>\nthrough open window,<br \/>\nsweat scented freedom compelling<br \/>\nand feral, calling me distant,<br \/>\ndeep and wild.<\/p>\n<p>The rhythm resolves as the<br \/>\nherd hurries on.
