We raced through the jungle trails on a motorcycle,
\nfaceless men, clad in black, chasing us.
\nThrowing stars at us from their Ducati’s,
\nyou were finally saving me.<\/p>\n
We spun around a corner,
\nyour father’s houseboat docked within the marsh.
\nSafety, at last!
\nThere was a table for the dead affixed to the stern,
\nextending into the water.
\nAt first glance, I thought it was a slide.
\nI lay on its metallic surface, warmed by the sun, because you asked me to.
\nThen streams of crimson spilled into the water surrounding me,
\nand then I knew.
\nYou only saved me to drain me.
\nBut why?<\/p>\n
I jumped from my death and stormed the boat.
\nYou had my passport, trapping me,
\nsaying I had no choice but to die.
\nBegging to know why, you told me you had to obey.
\nYour father wanted me dead.
\nThere was no time for tears, I was determined to find another way.
\nI could run back to the ninjas and let them take me.
\nBut just like that we were already out to sea,
\nand your father wanted my blood.
\nBut why?<\/p>\n
Standing starboard, I could see the shoreline twenty miles away.
\nI could swim it. I would make it to shore, and then disappear.
\nBefore I could dive, you grabbed my arm.
\nYou gave me the small paper bag that held my identity and a key.
\nI followed as you led, a jet ski tethered to the boat.
\nYou told me to go before your father came back, it was the only chance I had.<\/p>\n
I straddled the jet ski, ignited it’s fury, and rocketed away.
\nThe salt spray mixed with my tears as I left you behind.
\nI had no thank you to say, only confusion and defiance.
\nThe further I rode, the more my heart broke.
\nI loved you more than a human could ever love,
