I used to pretend that I don’t give a fuck<\/p>\n

But I do<\/p>\n

(Sometimes a little too much)<\/p>\n

Thoughts drift to that first cloud of sulphur-smelling tear gas
\nThe defiant linking of arms against gas-masked riot line
\nSneering at disperal orders
\nBlack bandana dancing to pounding bucket drums<\/p>\n

Giving a fuck can fuck you<\/p>\n

Sitting in a bus full of mass arrestees
\nMakes you wonder
\nWonder if it’s worth it<\/p>\n

If this is having any impact at all,
\nThese protests and rallies,
\nThese awareness campaigns,
\nThe shutdowns and occupations<\/p>\n

We testify,
\nWatch the state deny and it’s back to the streets, march, chant, demand, repeat
\nUntil Justice is reached
\nThere will be no peace
\nBut so many still sleep…<\/p>\n

Can’t we all just give a little fuck?<\/p>\n

Just a little?<\/p>\n

It’ll ease the burden of those of us who do give a fuck
\n(Sometimes a little too much)<\/p>\n

There’s only so much fuck one person can give,
\nAnd giving too much sucks<\/p>\n

Sucks the energy, saps the soul
\nIt’s a heavy price for empathy,
\nFor giving a fuck about things outside of your control<\/p>\n

I can’t pretend to not give a fuck<\/p>\n

Because I do<\/p>\n
