{"id":49666,"date":"2019-06-22T14:21:16","date_gmt":"2019-06-22T18:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=49666"},"modified":"2019-06-22T14:21:16","modified_gmt":"2019-06-22T18:21:16","slug":"what-love-looks-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/what-love-looks-like\/","title":{"rendered":"What Love Looks Like"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Biscuits and gravy!<br \/>\nI wasn&#8217;t much of a cook,<br \/>\nbut I had a family to feed,<br \/>\nso I learned the scientific formula to create magic<br \/>\nfrom flour and fat and leavening,<br \/>\nfrom flour and fat and milk.<\/p>\n<p>I experimented to find more perfect formulas,<br \/>\nand 21 times most weeks,<br \/>\nI put my formulaic meals on the table&#8211;<br \/>\nmeat and bread and vegetables.<\/p>\n<p>When I knew more, I weaned them from sugar,<br \/>\nfrom fat and flour,<br \/>\nkept experimenting<br \/>\nbecause delicious is as important<br \/>\nas healthy.<\/p>\n<p>I stir honey and blueberries into yogurt,<br \/>\ncut cantaloupe instead of cake,<br \/>\nserve greens every day, seasoned with seeds<br \/>\nand spices, pickled beets and fresh tomatoes,<br \/>\nflavors from every continent,<\/p>\n<p>and when my granddaughter visits,<br \/>\nlay in a supply of good aged cheddar,<br \/>\nwhite and crumbly,<br \/>\nand can upon can of pork and beans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Biscuits and gravy!
