Born in anger, fear, or stress,
\nthe little Scream starts inside.
\nHe wants to get out, to see the world,
\nbut he is trapped and chained.
\nHe starts in the head, a tiny voice,
\n“Won’t you set me free?”
\nBut then he grows as time goes on,
\nand falls into the chest.
\nThe Scream hits the ribs,
\nbounced around, bruises his cage,
\nbut still is confined to prison.
\nScreams feed off of sorrow,
\nof pain and doubt and rage.
\nHe grows so fast, so big, so strong,
\nand claws his way upstream.
\nUp out of the chest, into the throat,
\nand digs into the vocal folds.
\n“LET ME OUT!” he cries, desperate for light.
\nHe’s only known the inside,
\ndamp and dark and small.
\nBut the throat convulses, swallowing,
\nand squashes the Scream for good.
\nHis corpse falls into the stomach,
