That gave our breakfast, fresh;<\/p>\n
Life was simpler then.<\/p>\n

The water well was ready<\/p>\n
To fill the pitcher full.<\/p>\n
The stream was full of frogs<\/p>\n
That croaked and senses lulled.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Lightening bugs in a jar–<\/p>\n
We kept, then raised the lid<\/p>\n
To let them join the others<\/p>\n
In flight to where they hid.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Clothes were hanging on the line<\/p>\n
To dry in breeze of air;<\/p>\n
Nothing ever smelled so fresh<\/p>\n
As clean sheets dried so fair!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Lard was in the bucket<\/p>\n
To fry the chicken, crisp–<\/p>\n
No worries of clogged arteries:<\/p>\n
Real butter, churned by Sis.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Homemade ice cream made so sweet<\/p>\n
With salt packed tight around it,<\/p>\n
We’d turn, and turn, and turn some more<\/p>\n
Waiting for the taste: a hit!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Modern days are filled with speed<\/p>\n
And great technology,<\/p>\n
But nothing beats the good ol’ days<\/p>\n
