\nNo one praises you as a survivor,
\nas someone who “beat” it,
\nthis demon you wrestle with every day.<\/p>\n
Because no victory is decisive,
\nno all clear, no all better, no cure.
\nThe enemy persists, insurgent,
\ninvisible, intractable, inside you.<\/p>\n
And I’m out here, watching you fight
\nthis war I can be no part of,
\ncarrying a burden I can’t shoulder.
\nFeeling you struggle against limits,
\nimposed by no one for no reason,
\nthat you have to live with and within.<\/p>\n
I won’t tell you to get better;
\nThat prayer has been denied.
\nThere are a thousand useless things
\nWe’ve said, and done, and tried.
\nBut know this much, my love:
\nI watch your fight with pride.<\/p>\n
Every day is a chance to quit,
\nto lose, or fade.\u00a0 To die.

\nStare demons screaming in the eye.
