Sometimes I don’t understand<\/p>\n
Why I didn’t realize as a child<\/p>\n
That the house I lived in was haunted<\/p>\n
The windows, always the windows<\/p>\n
I was terrified of them<\/p>\n
Something was watching me in the woods<\/p>\n
I made my parents buy me thick curtains that were never opened<\/p>\n
Nightmares of faces scared me in the night<\/p>\n
The woods I had grown up in,<\/p>\n
That had raised me<\/p>\n
Felt dangerous<\/p>\n
And I had no idea why<\/p>\n
Creaks in the night<\/p>\n
Windows, so many windows<\/p>\n
Burning at night with something unholy<\/p>\n
When I was a toddler, so I am told<\/p>\n
I woke screaming of demons in the air<\/p>\n
Attacking me, swooping down to me<\/p>\n
When I was a pre-teen, my fear of the windows drove me to my sisters floor where I slept for half a year<\/p>\n
Something was lurking in the dark<\/p>\n
Step outside children<\/p>\n
And feel the cold creeping up on you<\/p>\n
You are being watched, always watched<\/p>\n
Your mother feels it too<\/p>\n
This land is cursed<\/p>\n
Only this house, built by your father, protects you<\/p>\n
Come out to play children<\/p>\n
We are waiting<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
