\nwhat else to say
\necclesiastes said it best
\nor he said ok
\nthe end of that book
\nis kind of a cop out
\nI use a bible as my mousepad
\nKJV, given to me by Mormons
\nthey were friendly
\nbut I still didn’t give them my phone number
\nIf I knew more about Joseph Smith at the time
\nI would have given them a better grilling
\ninstead I asked “what questions are you sick of hearing?”
\nThey both replied “asking if we’re from a polygamist family”
\nfair enough
\nbut still
\nyou get your own planet when you die
\nif you’re smart enough to die Mormon
\nin good standing
\nand male
\nand you know all the handshakes
\nwhat was I talking about?
\nRight, Jesus is my mousepad
\nI read from it sometimes
\nthe apostles sound like liars
\nand what crawled up Paul’s ass and died?
\nIt’s a fantastic mousepad though
\ngood grip, that faux-leather texture
\nsoft edges that don’t dig into my wrist
\nand there’s one line in particular
\nthat I like
\nfrom Jesus, I think this was before he was God?
\nThat’s intentionally bad theology- I’m not that ignorant
\nI’m not religious but I like reading holy texts
\nIt’s mythology, it’s like comic books
\nwhen you read the old testament
\nit’s no wonder
\nthat all the original creators
\nof superheroes
\nyour supermen, your batmen,
\nwere Jews
\ncomic books are a Jewish tradition
\nSo yeah, he was always God
\nbut the man was sometimes
\nmore man-like than godlike
\nAll those parties he threw
\nand the disciples are like “wow where’d he get all these fishes?”
\nNot like his disciples were fishermen or anything
\nbut right, that one line
\n(I’m paraphrasing)
\n“You can curse the Father and be forgiven, you can curse the Son and be forgiven, but you will not be forgiven if you curse the Holy Spirit”
\nI think about that one a lot.
\nI tried cursing the holy spirit the other day
\nbecause, ya know
\nI don’t even believe in you, you can’t tell me what to do<\/em>
\nso I did
\nbut my heart wasn’t in it
\nso I probably didn’t actually do it
\nI’m no theologian
\nand you didn’t ask
\nbut I think it means something like
\nyou can curse the creator
\nbut not the energy of creation itself
\nI think I can get behind that
\nand I hope I never do curse that Spirit
\nbut I might
