\nPepper the streets around the crime
\nAs if the threat of observation were enough
\nTo stop a violent perpetrator in their tracks,
\nQuell the wave of the power trip from washing
\nOver the bulletproof vest, pressed uniform, holstered gun;
\nAnd as if the promise of accountability could be distilled
\nInto one solitary square of communication, freedom.<\/p>\n
One knows that in a world where the only power we possess
\nIs to know what we alone saw and heard and did,
\nSo that when the forces of “are you sure?” and “surely not” –
\nBickering and backstabbing, secondguessing and gaslighting –
\nCrash upon you from an attorney’s confident voice, creating doubt
\nFor everything you do not have clear as solid rock:<\/p>\n
In the knowledge of that future time,
