{"id":54166,"date":"2019-06-22T21:51:27","date_gmt":"2019-06-23T01:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=54166"},"modified":"2019-06-22T21:54:34","modified_gmt":"2019-06-23T01:54:34","slug":"poem-14-adorable-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/poem-14-adorable-words\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem 14 &#8220;Adorable Words&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>&#8220;Adorable Words&#8221; by Mandy Austin Cook<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Everybody has a word<\/p>\n<div>a word that blunders over the tongue<\/div>\n<div>as if it were the drunk one of the Three Stooges.<\/div>\n<div>This endearing thing has a percussionary quality to it<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0that is likable to me.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Ask my grandmother to say aluminum<\/div>\n<div>and it numandnums into oblivion.<\/div>\n<div>What is the definition of infinity?<\/div>\n<div>Aluminuminuminum.<\/div>\n<div>(minum)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>if I want to distract my friend into total abandon of thought<\/div>\n<div>I ask her to tell someone<\/div>\n<div>that\u00a0 I would specifically like spaghetti.<\/div>\n<div>yes I am aware her pasta could be seafood<\/div>\n<div>while the p playfully tapdances across the s of the noodles.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>My word is contribution<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0it CONtributes not ConTRIButes to the situaton.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0a southern yellow is not mellow<\/div>\n<div>it is yella<\/div>\n<div>as if to make certain your voice is heard<\/div>\n<div>you might yella at a fella.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The warsh somehow tingles with the suggestion<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0that it&#8217;s extra-specially squeaky clean<\/div>\n<div>when pronounced in this fashion.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>And if you care to<\/div>\n<div>both pronounce and anunciate<\/div>\n<div>be careful not to<\/div>\n<div>pronunciate.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Adorable words.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Adorable Words&#8221; by Mandy Austin Cook Everybody has a word a word that blunders over the tongue as if it were the drunk one of the Three Stooges.
