Dear Sanity,<\/p>\n
We have reached that place again<\/p>\n
The hours grow late<\/p>\n
The words jumble into something<\/p>\n
I don’t even understand<\/p>\n
Each year when we do this<\/p>\n
You question me and my motives<\/p>\n
Last time you packed your bags<\/p>\n
But you returned, I’m glad you returned<\/p>\n
This time I see you in the shadows watching me<\/p>\n
Seeing me banter back and forth<\/p>\n
With the computer, the cat and<\/p>\n
the snacks which have replaced my husband as my companion<\/p>\n
I know its difficult<\/p>\n
It always is when poetry and lack of sleep are involved<\/p>\n
But I like to think we have come to an understanding<\/p>\n
We need each other<\/p>\n
And although I abandon you often<\/p>\n
Especially in these creative endeavors<\/p>\n
I do need you.<\/p>\n
You get me through those long reality filled days<\/p>\n
Try to understand<\/p>\n
It’s only temporary<\/p>\n
It isn’t permanent.<\/p>\n
Poetry helps us keep our relationship<\/p>\n
I need my space away from reality<\/p>\n
From the day to day<\/p>\n
We will get through this night Sanity<\/p>\n
You and me<\/p>\n
We will sleep in tomorrow<\/p>\n
We will find our bearings together again<\/p>\n
Just hold on a little bit longer<\/p>\n
