for a while we traveled together<\/p>\n
and you tried to drag me down there with you<\/p>\n
astonished at the gates<\/p>\n
I saw there were no flames<\/p>\n
no broiling heat arose<\/p>\n
no wisps of acrid smoke<\/p>\n
sulfuric on my tongue<\/p>\n
white vapours played like shadows<\/p>\n
against the wall dark<\/p>\n
reflections of soul-sucking vampires<\/p>\n
and cold so deep I felt its pull<\/p>\n
and pulled away<\/p>\n
let go your hand<\/p>\n
before I ventured forth<\/p>\n
too close to turn<\/p>\n
though you would drag me there<\/p>\n
against my will<\/p>\n
I chose redemption<\/p>\n
safety, a heart full of glory<\/p>\n
joy overflowing in the light<\/p>\n
