For twenty one, we must return<\/p>\n
to my thirteenth year<\/p>\n
where a boy noticed me in passing.<\/p>\n

It was sheer luck we were there<\/p>\n
in the same room, at the same time<\/p>\n
at Kennedy Space Center.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
On vacation with our respective families,<\/p>\n
we had come from vastly different worlds.<\/p>\n
He was born in Detroit the year before I was born in Atlanta.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There was never a reason or even the probability<\/p>\n
that our paths would ever cross,<\/p>\n
but fate had made other plans for us.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
At twenty-one, I walked into my best friend’s house<\/p>\n
and there he sat at her table<\/p>\n
eating bacon and smiling as if he knew me.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It took us many years to figure out why we felt we’d met before<\/p>\n
but it only took two years to know that<\/p>\n
we were much more than friends.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He was all I’d ever dreamed about,<\/p>\n
all my fantasies given life.<\/p>\n
I never knew what he saw in me but I’m glad he did.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
From our first kiss in October<\/p>\n
to our marriage in January,<\/p>\n
I knew I had my Prince Charming.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Next January will be thirty-one years<\/p>\n
spent with the love of my heart.<\/p>\n
God brought us together and together we will stay.<\/p>\n
