The night has become a blanket of quiet<\/p>\n
A quilt of solitude<\/p>\n
Cat sits next to me<\/p>\n
Tail swishing<\/p>\n
A warning perhaps<\/p>\n
He assists this poetry drivel<\/p>\n
By batting my fingers<\/p>\n
When they dance across the keyboard<\/p>\n
I have insulted him with a kiss<\/p>\n
Degraded him with attention<\/p>\n
for now he faces away<\/p>\n
He puts up with me for food<\/p>\n
Yet he does care<\/p>\n
Never leaves my side<\/p>\n
Follows me out the door in the morning<\/p>\n
Greets me at the garage when I come home<\/p>\n
He finds me bearable<\/p>\n
He knows I am devoted<\/p>\n
And cats love being worshipped<\/p>\n
He allows me this evening of poetry<\/p>\n
For now as long as it doesn’t interfere<\/p>\n
