One lone table on<br \/>\nfolding legs, also white, standing<br \/>\non the white concrete driveway.<br \/>\nWomen\u2019s shoes of all types,<br \/>\nsize 7, lined up underneath, the only<br \/>\nshade to be found. Sun in late<br \/>\nFebruary is soothing. A Hispanic<br \/>\nwoman smiled at me from the porch,<br \/>\nwalked over. I smiled back<br \/>\nand searched the table for anything<br \/>\nI could want. \u201cHow much?\u201d I held<br \/>\na pink woven bracelet with<br \/>\na metal plate. \u201c50 cents,\u201d<br \/>\nher accented reply. I gave her<br \/>\ntwo quarters and turn. Back<br \/>\nto the car. Buckle up. Bracelet<br \/>\ncool in my hand, cool<br \/>\non my wrist. Metal plate read<br \/>\nPeace.
