Sitting alone in a bar
\nMiles away from anywhere
\nI feel nails on the back of my neck
\nAnd the murmurs of a sultry voice
\nWhispering in my ear
\nI turn, but there is no one there<\/p>\n
I look at the clock, half past midnight
\nI look at my phone, no service
\nI survey the weather scrolling by me, it is clear
\nI calculate the distance from here to home<\/p>\n
I finish my beer
\nI get in the car
\nI’m redlining it all the way back
\nBack to my front porch and my front steps<\/p>\n
I’m in the house by 2 am
\nBack for the first time in two weeks
\nI walk into my bedroom
\nShe’s lying under the covers and curled on her side<\/p>\n
I slip in with her
\nShe’s surprised
\nThen relieved
\nThen kisses me on the mouth
\nI feel her nails in my hair
\nI hear her whisper in my ear<\/p>\n
