{"id":60363,"date":"2020-06-24T16:38:40","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T20:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=60363"},"modified":"2020-06-24T16:38:40","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T20:38:40","slug":"walls-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/walls-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Walls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Casting spells at your altar<br \/>\nCalling for me to become untimely real<br \/>\nThe loving \u2018thing\u2019 you never had<br \/>\nand despite all here I came.<br \/>\nA shot came through of purest love,<br \/>\nThat love not felt by us for years<br \/>\nCommanded to me by some inner calling<br \/>\nEncouraged and beckoned<br \/>\nOn I float and come so close nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Then come I come and whats all about,<br \/>\nbut where I arrive no welcome\u2019s near.<br \/>\nA fortress avoidant and walls most bleak.<br \/>\nWhy call on me now for this?<br \/>\nWhile every intimacy an invasion seems,<br \/>\nEros spread so thin so no where sticks.<br \/>\nIn destructive rampage I reach out.<br \/>\nI meet every snare and trap you laid<br \/>\nWounded and cut I stagger through<br \/>\nNo drawbridge lowers and no moat abates<br \/>\nYet on I wander through and through.<\/p>\n<p>How dare I care, how dare I exist<br \/>\nEvery step I make is a terrible wrong.<br \/>\nBoundaries drawn and redrawn to keep me out.<br \/>\nI falter and I stutter so confused of whats about.<br \/>\nIf finally you kill me off<br \/>\nthen know you must no more may come,<br \/>\nchances so precious we must all change,<br \/>\nas prayers are only answered from above.<\/p>\n<p>When one stares so deep into mortar stone<br \/>\nthen blinkered forgets the world beyond.<br \/>\nTaking comfort in the harshest materials,<br \/>\nas harsh breeds harsh and constructs this here.<br \/>\nI glimpse behind this place with momentary wonder,<br \/>\nAs did you when kneel you did and made your incantations.<br \/>\nYou sorcerer&#8217;s apprentice cast so well<br \/>\nand water comes and water comes<br \/>\nno wall you make can keep it out.<\/p>\n<p>I trip and knock defences here and there,<br \/>\nshow the hollow insides of idols near,<br \/>\ndivesting of what we truly don\u2019t need.<br \/>\nIf such spells could cast us dearly so,<br \/>\nthen maybe it was this same current called on<br \/>\nwhich now comes to push these barriers away.<br \/>\nCling not to stone or wood or clay,<br \/>\nWealth abounds wherein we pray.<br \/>\nWhat a curse to finally get what you invoke,<br \/>\nAccusing the universe for the horror it provoke.<\/p>\n<p>I really never meant no harm,<br \/>\nbut felt this call with perfect calm.<br \/>\nThis confusing and confounding tear,<br \/>\nglace up our stars have crossed so near.<br \/>\nYet come as asked and shunned with fear,<br \/>\nHow could this magic have brought me here?<\/p>\n<p>Why do you wish for the last thing you can handle,<br \/>\nI am not a golem made for you my dearest.<br \/>\nI cry myself to sleep and say,<br \/>\nhere I am my promised love please stay.<br \/>\nMy life goes on without unlimited scope,<br \/>\nmy will was aligned to meet your plight,<br \/>\nI trained my whole life long time<br \/>\nconditioned by all I felt and knew<br \/>\nto manage to still survive,<br \/>\nto come now and know you.<\/p>\n<p>When amputate me you did,<br \/>\nI have nothing but faith to hold me here,<br \/>\nyet I know you threw your purest wish for us.<br \/>\nI see inside that far tower there,<br \/>\nwhere waits a prisoner bound by herself,<br \/>\nwalled in and chained up so tight,<br \/>\nneeding the merest gift of light.<br \/>\nI wait outside these mighty walls,<br \/>\nwith arrows thrown and rocks down too,<br \/>\nwith calmness and sure footing of place.<br \/>\nSurviving for that one promised day,<br \/>\nwhen exhausted ramparts will fall down,<br \/>\nand our children openly spring forth,<br \/>\nand then I know my heart does say<br \/>\nthat we may live forever more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Casting spells at your altar Calling for me to become untimely real The loving \u2018thing\u2019 you never had and despite all here I came.
