{"id":61596,"date":"2020-06-27T09:16:45","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T13:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=61596"},"modified":"2020-06-27T09:21:17","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T13:21:17","slug":"dark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/dark\/","title":{"rendered":"Dark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\">Close your eyes and fall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Fall into that abyss that lies silently behind your line of sight,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Fall into a place where your thoughts are violent,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">But your mind is still.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Close your eyes and fall into the darkness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Let the emptiness caress your soul,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Remove the warmth of life and become colder than the headstone,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">As your thoughts run dry and your fears fill up with life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Recreate the feeling of death, remove the pain and just be cold.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Let your demons crawl out of your fears and fall,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Let them fall down your cheeks, have them caress your face,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">In ways that people never could.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Now, pray,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Not for your forgiveness or your salvation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">But pray for the eternal damnation you have survived since birth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Silently and secretly curse Heaven and Earth<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">As you fail to take your mind out of purgatory and blow out the flames<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Now focus on the darkness,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Let it envelope you, inscribe letters on your body,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">As you emerge from the darkness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Now open your eyes and submerge those thoughts<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Regret your life and wish death upon yourself<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Utter a silent amen to cement your undying beliefs<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Return the skeletons in their closets and let the darkness free.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">~Baker<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Close your eyes and fall.
