She was there during my darkest days<\/p>\n
when I was afraid of my own shadow,<\/p>\n
I wouldn’t have left the basement<\/p>\n
if she wasn’t a writer.<\/p>\n
She gave me advice that I pinned to my mind.<\/p>\n
She brought me with her on her walks.<\/p>\n
She made me feel like I mattered,<\/p>\n
like I could conquer my demons.<\/p>\n
Her laugh brightens my days.<\/p>\n
She says we can talk on the phone<\/p>\n
as if we were still sitting next to each other.<\/p>\n
She gave me her cat and said I was meant to have her.<\/p>\n
She told me I’m not stupid and somehow knew it was exactly what I needed to hear.<\/p>\n
She is strong,<\/p>\n
been through so much<\/p>\n
and she keeps pressing on.<\/p>\n
She is like sunlight.<\/p>\n
I’ve always looked up to her.<\/p>\n
She has helped many people.<\/p>\n
Sometimes reading my poetry to kids in her class<\/p>\n
to inspire them.<\/p>\n
She would also share my story and say if I could get through this,<\/p>\n
YOU can do it, too.<\/p>\n
