{"id":61772,"date":"2020-06-27T09:29:27","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T13:29:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=61772"},"modified":"2020-06-27T11:07:17","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T15:07:17","slug":"never-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/never-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Never more"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>The early morning fog <br \/>was like thin milk hanging over the cliffs<br \/>And the cold air <br \/>filled my lungs <br \/>like breathing<br \/>through a cloud.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>I always liked the early morrning <br \/>stillness<br \/>like a gift<br \/>the world was giving <br \/>for the early birds<\/p>\r\n<p>But that morning,<br \/>the quiet was interrupted by<br \/>the sound of deep breathing behind me<br \/>which awakened all every muscles in my body<br \/>and my skin tingled like it could hear<\/p>\r\n<p>Fight or flight?<br \/>fight or flight?<\/p>\r\n<p>I ran faster away from the sound<br \/>but saw the dark figure emerging from the fog<br \/>a creature so large<br \/>its breath filled my fear<br \/>with each breath.<br \/><br \/><\/p>\r\n<p>Its beak looked large enough<br \/>to peck my eyes out<br \/>and though it was bigger than any bird <br \/>I&#8217;d ever seen in my life<br \/>we both stared at each other in relief<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;Nevermore, Mr. Poe,&#8221;<br \/>I said <br \/>as I tipped my imaginary hat at him.<\/p>\r\n<p>He just looked at me and laughed.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The early morning fog was like thin milk hanging over the cliffsAnd the cold air filled my lungs like breathingthrough a cloud.
