I very much enjoy the conversations you and I have in my head,<\/p>\n
The rambling dialogues cast from my bed<\/p>\n
(For different reasons I am anchored to mine much of the time)<\/p>\n
Where we find comfort in commonalities –<\/p>\n
Teachers who valued connection over hierarchy;<\/p>\n
Nurturing souls who lived child-free;<\/p>\n
Passionate nationalists for rose tinted lands;<\/p>\n
‘Difficult women’ who let nobody force their hands<\/p>\n
And over this period of lockdown especially you have focused my thoughts<\/p>\n
On how a true period of confinement<\/p>\n
Can lead to a refinement –<\/p>\n
Unencumbered by oughts –<\/p>\n
After all – we could all be hit by a bus tomorrow<\/p>\n
But who among us would see a window for growth,<\/p>\n
Beyond sorrow.<\/p>\n
