<\/p>\n
There is only ever going to be one woman this poem could be about<\/p>\n
And frankly I\u2019m embarrassed<\/p>\n
I know how it will look to other people<\/p>\n
Cos it has to be my mother<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Now don\u2019t get me wrong, it\u2019s not because I can\u2019t think of any other women<\/p>\n
I know loads of women<\/p>\n
OK, maybe not loads of women<\/p>\n
OK, some women<\/p>\n
One or two\u2026<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But regardless there are few PEOPLE in this world<\/p>\n
Who had more effect than my Mum did to me<\/p>\n
And only fifty percent of that<\/p>\n
Is motivated by fear<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t judge me, this is the woman<\/p>\n
That history claims at the age of 9<\/p>\n
Broke a 12 years old boy\u2019s arm with a skipping rope<\/p>\n
For doing playtime wrong!<\/p>\n
This and other stories are perhaps the reason why<\/p>\n
As a mother of young children<\/p>\n
She shows great pride<\/p>\n
In having never had to count to three<\/p>\n
Before getting her own way.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But there are positives as well<\/p>\n
She has:<\/p>\n
Taught us right from wrong<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m right, your father\u2019s wrong\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n How to be self reliant<\/p>\n \u201cWhat makes you think I\u2019m going to do your ironing for you?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n How to be impartial<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care who started it! I\u2019m finishing it!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n To have an appreciation for the natural world<\/p>\n \u201cStop lounging around the house and go play outside! I don\u2019t care if it\u2019s hailing!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Unfortunately I must end this poem now<\/p>\n As she has just read this over my shoulder<\/p>\n And I only have a few lines left to say<\/p>\n That regardless of the fear<\/p>\n She did provide an example<\/p>\n Of someone you could be proud to be<\/p>\n Strong, confident, honest, fair<\/p>\n All a son could ask for\u2026<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Send help!
