Walls I and others<br \/>\nlike me helped build<br \/>\nthrough our complacency<br \/>\nour acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>The shame I feel<br \/>\nas I hold her to me<br \/>\nis all this moment can do.<br \/>\nWe take deep breaths<br \/>\nstep back<br \/>\neach seeing now<br \/>\nthe color of our skin.<\/p>\n<p>We smile.
