{"id":62661,"date":"2020-06-27T10:35:53","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T14:35:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=62661"},"modified":"2020-07-19T17:34:54","modified_gmt":"2020-07-19T21:34:54","slug":"xenophobes-holiday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/xenophobes-holiday\/","title":{"rendered":"Xenophobe&#8217;s Holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We couldn&#8217;t decide where to go,<br \/>\nsaid we, and you and I have no choice but to follow.<br \/>\nSo <em>we<\/em> went nowhere in our minds and very heartily.<\/p>\n<p>For the following, should we need to live virtually through <em>others<\/em>&#8216; travels,<br \/>\npictures do exist:<br \/>\nUS, sitting on France, pulling off her beret<br \/>\nand throwing it into the Seine.<\/p>\n<p>US, walking in front of the Queen,<br \/>\nand invading Buckingham Palace<br \/>\nlong enough to take selfies<br \/>\nand a long dump in Her Majesty&#8217;s private loo.<\/p>\n<p>US, smiling next to a frowning Pope Francis,<br \/>\ntoo miserable to throttle US for our inhumanity<br \/>\nbut we take his quiet for a pass and eat extra hamburgers that night.<\/p>\n<p>No one in Europe will see US now.<br \/>\nWe have a little vial of garlic just in case<br \/>\nRomania &#8211; wait, isn&#8217;t that Rome, again?<br \/>\nNo, US, don&#8217;t interrupt when your mouth is full.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll just sit here, not going anywhere, thanks.<\/p>\n<p>We can see your electronic missives, US.<br \/>\n&#8220;We&#8217;re not wanted in Europe, they&#8217;ll miss our green!&#8221;<br \/>\nMaybe, but not our germs, mais oui!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We couldn&#8217;t decide where to go, said we, and you and I have no choice but to follow.
