{"id":62908,"date":"2020-06-27T10:23:34","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T14:23:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=62908"},"modified":"2021-04-17T13:48:36","modified_gmt":"2021-04-17T17:48:36","slug":"walking-ashore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/walking-ashore\/","title":{"rendered":"Walking Ashore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Walking Ashore<\/p>\n<p>Darkness, like Armageddon,<br \/>\ndoes not announce its birth.<br \/>\nYou begin to see walls crumbling on you.<br \/>\nAnd there you are, swimming to nowhere<br \/>\nafter being broken by nightmares.<br \/>\nBecause every sound is a constellation<br \/>\nof scourges on your existence.<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s something persuading you<br \/>\nto leave this place of woes:<br \/>\nten thousand woes after an amen of blessing.<br \/>\nIs home not a haven of peace?<br \/>\nYou remember we are parts of the same fig,<br \/>\nand stayed to feel the touch of winter with me.<br \/>\nYou would call God if you knew him,<br \/>\nas you would a beggar roaming the streets,<br \/>\nas if he was the one in need of you.<br \/>\nI learnt there is an answer to prayers<br \/>\neven in God&#8217;s silence. You did not agree.<br \/>\nI do not blame you for saying the brick<br \/>\nlife confines you is too large for one.<br \/>\nIt is because you&#8217;ve forgotten you are broken,<br \/>\nperhaps, a bit \u2013 there are too many of you<br \/>\nto sing songs of hope until the stormy sea<br \/>\nparts for you to walk ashore<br \/>\nwithout your worries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Walking Ashore Darkness, like Armageddon, does not announce its birth.
