Eyes open<\/span><\/p>\n

Counting the hours<\/span><\/p>\n

Hot flash<\/span><\/p>\n

Mental whiplash<\/span><\/p>\n

Grating nerves<\/span><\/p>\n

My heart is going to pop.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(When the kids go away, my mind begins to fray)<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Was it because their father left me?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or because he tried to die?<\/span><\/p>\n

Is it because the kids are so young?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or because I still have to cry?<\/span><\/p>\n

Is it the virus, the silence, the civil unrest?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or is it because the milk just recently dried up in my chest?<\/span><\/p>\n

There is no way to reason it away,<\/span><\/p>\n

The paralysis and panic are here to stay.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Meditation and edibles went from one to four,<\/span><\/p>\n

No sleep, no calm, I was still at war.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beta Blockers, Xanax, bad TV<\/span><\/p>\n

Kaiser Permanente gave me the key.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, my body can finally rest,<\/span><\/p>\n

And nightmares become my new, revisiting pest.<\/span><\/p>\n
