In the day, I sit in my chair
\nEyes wide open, my mind blank
\nA seemingly calm outlook
\nFor a man with a to-do list
\nI lounge around and drink coffee
\nTo stay up and do nothing<\/p>\n
My nervous self comes to visit me at night<\/p>\n
In the day, portraits watch my every move.
\nTo appease myself, I run through the routine,
\nBut I know of my sham.
\nWritten notes disguise my actions,
\nThe books fortify my falsehood.
\nA pretty, glass house that I\u2019ve built
\nTo allow my consciousness to peer in,
\nAnd glee with satisfaction.<\/p>\n

In the day, the clock groans with disappointment
\nThe seconds, minutes, and hours all pass by
\nEndless work to be done
\nBut my lobotomized mind is fixed elsewhere
\nThe fire continues to swell under my feet
