Dear Grandmother,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I wish you could see, my ink stained hands,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where he needled in birds, 10, that I could count\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But I can no longer inherit the chains I ought to love\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Was born to love, everyone says\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The wounds hurt, that held the cord connecting me to your life<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m sorry, I clipped it, I had to make room for the wings,<\/span><\/p>\n

Mother is often upset, as I reject,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our generational suffering\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We fight, she cries, I do not blame her,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Would I leave if I had the key to the prison I was born in?<\/span><\/p>\n

I promise you I will not birth another in a prison\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I wish you could see, no husband will leave me bloodied\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
