I have a plan for us.
\nWhen the sun sets and all is quiet
\nWe’ll steal a boat and sail upon\u00a0 the lake
\nWe’ll bring a lantern a blanket, and ourselves
\nand lay looking up at the stars in its hull.
\n“I have a plan for us,” I’ll whisper,
\nand you’ll be none the wiser,
\nthat this plan is already in motion.
\n“Take my hand, and you can join me in the stars,”
\nYou’ll look over and giggle, but I’ll mean it.
\nWe can go anywhere in the world together,
\nbut we’ll need to do it tonight.
\nAnd if the sun rises and the boat is empty
\nI’ll know that you love me
\nAs much as I love you, the stars, and the universe.
\nBut if it rises and we’re still there, I’ll know
\nthat not all love is the kind I hold in my heart
\nfor you, who makes me want to be human.
\nAnd that’s okay.
