Writing poetry onto umbrellas<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Is easy to do: words in spirals, shapes and swirls.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Written by pen, indelible, like art itself.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In pubs and cafes around the cities North and South,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

collecting umbrellas from establishments,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

gains curiosity among the staff,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and for a moment something new,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

breaks into the everyday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brollies left in squares and street corners<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

as a silent, secret, exchange<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

the mystery of where, when and how.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The touring is the purest joy really:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

travel as creation<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

the bleary eyes in a Glasgow bus centre at 4AM<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

or the walk into Edinburgh as the sun flung itself into the sky<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Paddy\u2019s Day <\/span>entrourage<\/span> the pissed up <\/span>punters<\/span> of Birmingham pubs<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The long, long journeys so full of the <\/span>crackle<\/span> of joy the mundane uplifted<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

or the trip back to the alma mater, the umbrella laid outside the faculty<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

all done with love, but also a mind full of both the beauty and the folly<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

of a journey that means more to me<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

but maybe something to those who swept up the umbrellas<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

without a name or way to reply.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just another strange statement, among many<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That somehow sum up, just what it is,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

to be us.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
