The Cabin<\/span><\/p>\n

Her grandfather had built the cabin\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

for her grandmother in 1963.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Trees cleared from the property\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

to make space for it in the wilderness<\/span><\/p>\n

had turned into logs that made\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

sturdy exterior walls. Inside\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

there was a central living room\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

with bedrooms and a bathroom\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

from its four corners. The kitchen,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

under the loft on the west side,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

sported a wood and coal stove\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and running water. Stacks of quilts,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

stacks of wood, boxes of games\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and puzzles and pictures on the walls<\/span><\/p>\n

showed how the cabin had been used,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

life lived and loved here. But her favorite\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

thing of all was the heart\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

her grandfather had carved into a log<\/span><\/p>\n

near the front door. It was deep,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

family legend went, just like his love\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
