Blue-eyed tomcat in silver tabby coat
\nHe simply stood and stared, as if I knew
\nNot much to really decipher, I guess
\nA silent, staring cat – wants to be fed?
\nI always had extra pet food dishes
\nAlmost forgot about Irene’s wafer
\nI crumble it up into the dry food<\/p>\n
Before she left to visit family
\nIrene gave me a wafer for my guest
\n“Now this is for the uninvited guest!
\nWho will come visit you on Christmas Eve.”
\nNot being Catholic, I took her word
\nIt was getting late, almost Christmas Day
\nShe said nothing about his outer looks<\/p>\n
So he’s a cat wearing a tabby coat?
\nAn angel of God, she told me later
\nSaid he would look like us, not like a cat!
\nHow does she know he was not an angel?
\nMy self-image is often a tabby
\nBesides God loves endless variety
