Faded,<\/p>\n dried out, clumps wasting away.<\/p>\n Miniature carrots have been known to raise a<\/p>\n root or two.<\/p>\n But to watch chaffinch, tit and sparrow mingle<\/p>\n at the feeder is plenty entertainment.<\/p>\n Sparrows feeding sparrows,<\/p>\n three to four at the feeder.<\/p>\n Upside down clings and perches,<\/p>\n side ways,<\/p>\n tops, bottoms,<\/p>\n talons wrapped, touching full circle<\/p>\n while they peck and balance<\/p>\n wings fluttering ninety to the dozen<\/p>\n faster than hummingbirds,<\/p>\n It’s then I miss those feeders and the call, chirp, hum,<\/p>\n sucking the sugar water dry.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I love to chat at our feeder.<\/p>\n Before the dogs came,<\/p>\n neighbours adding dogs to the family circle,<\/p>\n morning calls would be a tap on<\/p>\n our bedroom window<\/p>\n Or a survey of one window over another<\/p>\n The one that would ensure full feeding ahead.<\/p>\n Peanuts, wild birdseed.<\/p>\n Sometimes it’s 4:10am.\u00a0 and the gentle song<\/p>\n intensifies,<\/p>\n multiplies, in frequency and decible.<\/p>\n In these parts alarms are useless,<\/p>\n far better to heed nature’s call.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I put two more fat balls in the feeder, he says.
