{"id":66791,"date":"2020-06-27T14:59:08","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T18:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=66791"},"modified":"2020-06-27T14:59:08","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T18:59:08","slug":"a-year-later-old-poetry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/a-year-later-old-poetry\/","title":{"rendered":"A year later (old poetry)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I put your hands around my neck and waited for you to squeeze and when you did, I was the scared one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I waited for you to catch on fire like i did for you but i knew you were water. you turned into steam and disappeared. as i scorched to ashes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">even as i write this and remember, i REALIZE the oversimplification of the fact that,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">you.just.wanted.to.fuck.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">while<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I.was.just.lonely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">and<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">stuck<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">in<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">the<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">i&#8217;m just thanking the gods now for not dying in the arms of a heartless saint.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I put your hands around my neck and waited for you to squeeze and when you did, I was the scared one.
