Under the late June sun,<\/p>\n
she sits in the cold water,<\/p>\n
fish nibble on her toes.<\/p>\n
Sea shells surround her.<\/p>\n
She stares up at the sky;<\/p>\n
clouds shaped like fathers and daughters float along.<\/p>\n
Ten years have gone<\/p>\n
and her dad hasn’t come back.<\/p>\n
Life goes on and she follows.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Around father’s day every year,<\/p>\n
her wound hurts so much, she stays in bed.<\/p>\n
Yet she is one of the few fatherless daughter’s who understands why he’s gone.<\/p>\n
Empathy keeps her from being angry.<\/p>\n
Mental illness affects each person differently.<\/p>\n
And his chases him away.<\/p>\n
He has never had a phone or a social media account.<\/p>\n
He is like a lone wolf that doesn’t howl at the moon.<\/p>\n
It took her a long time to stop blaming herself.<\/p>\n
Sometimes she still revisits that guilt.<\/p>\n
But it’s time to let it go.<\/p>\n
She dives into the water.<\/p>\n
Never lose hope.<\/p>\n
