Tired (Brandy Goodman poem #8)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m tired of saying I’m tired<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

When someone asks after me<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The strong front faded long ago<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Now the shell is what they see.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Walking about with a sour look<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Never a positive word to say<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Shuffling through life like a zombie<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

On any and every given day.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I’m tired of feeling tired<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Weary down to the bone<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Dragging the bottom of the barrel<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Utterly lost and alone.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Consumed by pain and worry<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Drowning in hurt and fear<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Pushing everyone away<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Because it aches to have them near.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I’m tired of being tired<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Exhausted to the core<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Fretting about everyone and everything<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Leaves me physically sore.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Entombed by the weight of problems<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Shrouded in the dankness and dark<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Scrounging to fine some good<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

To bring back my old spark.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I know I’m not the only one<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Others have felt the way I do<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

But their words just don’t help<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

My negative point of view.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

So many years feeling this way<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Have finally taken their toll<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

How do I find a way back<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
