There\u2019s little as sexy as stupidity<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

damping down the depth of A B or C<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

to be more mailable.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Virtue comes with the simple message<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

that culture hasn\u2019t just ate itself<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

as made a meal out of the banal:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Warhol\u2019s tinned split pea soup<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Double Elvis<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Diamond Dust Shoes<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All skyscraper high, filling walls.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All of it all a show,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

that there\u2019s as much beauty<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

in consumerism, than there is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

in any past master\u2019s brushstroke<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

or sainted conceptual design.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The season of the idiot<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

is a marked card<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

of surface over feeling.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wilde once said: \u201cAll art is quite useless\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve run with that one<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

we have lost not the tools<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

but the expertise, the craft<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

that finished with Art Deco.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is no different between what\u2019s popular and what\u2019s avant garde<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Marx tells a friend over a pint of stout<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTrue life, true work, is being able to see yourself reflected in your labour.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Warhol checks his reflection,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

tells Marx his 15 minutes are up.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wilde searches the stars for inspiration<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But they are just <\/span>orbs<\/span> of rock and gas.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Baubles on a universal chain,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

always there, but seldom understood,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

so many lost to light pollution,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

from all the TV sets and phone devices.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If we are really in the gutter, we are still head dug into the screens<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We use to make ourselves seem whole.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
