I rushed to finish a proper one for the prompt but I am now late in posting because I spent too much time on a poem that only focused on imagery and sensory details&#8230; I decided to post both for this hour and I hope that is okay!<\/p>\n<p>1.<br \/>\nwitnessing the pause of a hummingbird\u2019s wings<br \/>\nas mother noses sustenance into her young<\/p>\n<p>discovering the opulent fragrance of a \u2018purple queen\u2019<br \/>\nlong before i see the magnolia tree<\/p>\n<p>cool mint tang of iced-tea, freshly brewed<br \/>\non a lazy, summer afternoon<\/p>\n<p>a lover\u2019s hand caressing my back<br \/>\nwith whispered dreams for tomorrow<\/p>\n<p>     while a cello fills the air<br \/>\n     with classical baroque<\/p>\n<p>2.<br \/>\nthese apprehensive stairs<br \/>\nbuilt with disillusionment<br \/>\n(like the ones at Winchester House)<\/p>\n<p>going nowhere<\/p>\n<p>rake and tread determined long ago \u2013<br \/>\nreplicated for comfort<br \/>\nand ease<\/p>\n<p>never altering<\/p>\n<p>posing risks with their height and<br \/>\nnosing, jutting out profanely,<br \/>\nas if fabricated to cause us harm<\/p>\n<p>and surprising us all the same<\/p>\n<p>finding the lift harder as we break and gray,<br \/>\nonly sometimes noticing the banister we<br \/>\ncling to as we climb<\/p>\n<p>some wrought with gold<\/p>\n<p>others smelling of must<br \/>\nand decay \u2013<br \/>\naged, iron balusters<\/p>\n<p>pungent, like seeping blood<\/p>\n<p>our grip tightens and gnarled fingers<br \/>\nsqueeze to hold fast our place on the climb<br \/>\nforgetting that we can go down<\/p>\n<p>and begin again<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So&#8230; I goofed and forgot the part of the prompt that said &#8216;ideal day&#8217;.
